Guide To Using Your Saudi Arabia Residency Visa

When preparing for a move to Saudi Arabia on a residency visa, it is essential to familiarize yourself with the country’s cultural norms and legal requirements. Understanding local customs, such as dress codes and public behavior, can greatly enhance your experience and ensure you make a positive impression. Saudi Arabia is a conservative country, and modest clothing is expected in public spaces. Additionally, the Kingdom has strict laws regarding behaviors, such as public displays of affection and interactions between genders, so being mindful of these regulations is crucial.

Health considerations are significant for anyone relocating to Saudi Arabia. Ensure that your vaccinations are up to date, especially for diseases like hepatitis A and B, typhoid, and meningitis, which are recommended for travelers to the region. Furthermore, it is advisable to have a health insurance plan that covers you internationally, as healthcare can be expensive without it. Familiarize yourself with the services of local clinics and hospitals. It’s also wise to keep all medications you may need in their original packaging, along with prescriptions, to avoid any issues at customs.

Housing in Saudi Arabia can vary widely, so conducting thorough research on neighborhoods and accommodation options that suit your lifestyle is important. Many expatriates find living in compound housing beneficial, as these areas often provide a supportive community, including amenities and social activities. However, whether you choose independent living or a compound, make sure that your housing complies with local regulations and that your lease or rental agreement is articulated clearly.

Transportation is another crucial aspect to consider when moving to Saudi Arabia. While public transport is improving, many residents tend to rely on personal vehicles. If you plan to drive, ensure you understand the local driving regulations and consider obtaining an International Driving Permit. Additionally, adhering to traffic laws is essential, as violations can result in hefty fines or more severe repercussions.
